St George’s Home for Girls
St George’s gives girls who cannot live safely at home a stable place to stay, learn and grow. Girls aged three to 18 receive educational, therapeutic, and practical support from care workers and a social worker, with each child receiving guidance suited to her needs.

A story about the charity

The answer will be different for every girl.

She may need somewhere safe to live. Help with her education. Therapeutic care. Practical skills for adulthood. Most of all, she needs people willing to understand her rather than assume they already know what is best.

St George’s brings those people together.

The Wynberg home cares for girls aged three to 18 who cannot safely remain at home. Child and Youth Care Workers are part of their daily lives, while a social worker helps each girl and her family navigate the support available to them.

The care changes as the girls grow. What a three-year-old needs today will be different from what she needs as a teenager. St George’s stays attentive to those changes, helping each girl prepare for the next stage of her life.

As JP Markets turns 10, we have been asking what helps someone grow over time. St George’s already has the answer in its rooms: safety, patience, guidance and people who stay involved.

The home received R10,000 from JP Markets. It is one small addition to the much bigger answer its team provides every day.

Every girl grows one year at a time. At St George’s, she has people making sure those years carry care, possibility, and hope.
